Exodus 3:1-12

The reading of the law for this coming Lord’s Day will be Deuteronomy 20:19-20.

The sermon text will be Exodus 3:1-12. We will be considering the question Moses asked God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?”

1. This question reveals Moses’ hesitation to do the work God had assigned to him. Why was Moses hesitant? Consider Exodus 2:11-15. Consider also the other responses Moses gave to God (Exodus 3:13; 4:1,10,13).

2. How often do Christians hesitate to do the work God assigns to them? What drives this hesitation?

3. Was Moses qualified to do the job God was calling him to do? Explain your answer. What qualifies you to do the jobs God has called you to do?

4. What’s the difference between somebody who’s unqualified and somebody who’s disqualified?

5. What specific promises does God make to Moses?
