We have come to the fifth and final stage of the Kubler-Ross perspective on grief, which is the stage of “acceptance.” The sermon text will be Job chapters 27 & 28. We will be looking to this portion of God’s word to see what it means to “accept” the losses, trials, and suffering that God brings into our lives. As you read through these two chapters, realize that this is Job’s response to the poor advice given by his friend Bildad (Job actually begins his response to Bildad in chapter 26). While reading through chapters 27 and 28, take note of Job’s disposition towards his circumstances as well as his certainty of God’s control over those same circumstances. Ask yourself whether Job “accepted” the circumstances God brought into his life. As yourself what it means to “accept” the circumstances we experience.
