I Believe (II)

The sermon text for this coming Lord’s Day is John 8:37-45. I’ll be reading and preaching from this text as we consider the statement of the Apostles’ Creed, “I believe in God the Father…”

As you read through this text, here are some questions to consider:

How does the Bible “prove” that God exists? What are the logical arguments that the Bible uses?
We know that all people are created in the image of God. But is God the “Father” of all people, as well?
Why were the Jews unable to bear the words that Jesus spoke? (see verse 43)
As you recite the Apostles’ Creed, you are affirming your faith in God as your Father. In verse 41, the Jews affirmed God as their Father, as well. It is evident from this passage that anyone can verbally claim that God is his or her Father. How, according to Jesus, can we tell the difference between those who really are children of God and those who are not?
